Much has been written about leadership: rules, tips, styles, and biographies of inspiring leaders throughout world history. But there are certain leadership ideas that we do not recognize and realize in the Books to read. Here’s a short list of things you thought you knew about leadership.

1st Leaders come in different flavors: There are all types of leaders and you will probably encounter more than one species in your life.

Formal leaders are those we elect to positions or offices, as senators, congressmen and president of the local clubs.
Informal leaders or those we respect for their wisdom and experience as in the case of the elders of a tribe, or our grandparents, or because of their expertise and their contribution to a specific area, such as Albert Einstein in the field of theoretical physics and Leonardo da Vinci in the field of art. Formal and informal practices of the leaders of a combination of leadership styles.

- Lewin three basic leadership styles – authoritarian, participative and delegative
- Likert four leadership styles – exploitive authoritative, benevolent authority, consultation and participation
- Goleman six emotional leadership styles – visionary, coaching, membership copy, democratic, and in order.

2nd Leadership is a process of becoming: Although some people seem born with innate leadership qualities, without the right environment and exposure, they may not develop their full potential. Similar to learn to ride a bike, you can also learn to be a leader and develop your leadership skills.

Knowledge on leadership theories and skills may be formally gained by enrolling in leadership seminars, workshops and conferences. watching Daily interactions with people the opportunity and practice leadership theories. Together, formal and informal learning will help you to gain leadership positions to promote gain leadership ideas, and thus the learning cycle. You do not have to stop a leader in one day. Training is important to be a good leader, because every day brings new experiences, your knowledge, skills and attitude to the test.

3rd Leadership begins with you: The best way to develop leadership skills and to apply them in your own life. I am sure you have the phrase “one action speak louder than words.”

The guides are always in the spotlight. Note that your credibility depends as a leader much from your actions: your interaction with your family, friends and colleagues how you manage your personal and organizational responsibility, and even how to talk to the newspaper vendor across the street. One can not simply “talk the talk”, he must walk. “Repeated actions become habits. Habits in turn form the character of a person. Steven Covey’s book 7 Habits of Highly Effective provides good ideas on how to achieve personal leadership.

4th Share leadership: leadership is not the sole responsibility of one person, but a shared responsibility between the members of an emerging team. A leader belongs to a group. Each member has to take responsibility.

Formal leadership positions are just outside the powers have their responsibilities as members of the team. Effective leadership requires members to do their own work. Starting as a single group of people, members and leaders work to form an effective team. In this context, the social interaction has a major role in the leadership. To learn to work together requires trust between leaders and members of an emerging team. Trust is built on actions and not just words. When mutual respect exists, trust is fostered and confidence is built.

5th Leadership styles depend on the situation: How does the dictatorship of Singapore, but not the United States of America? In addition to culture, belief system, the value and form of government, the current state of the nation also affects the leadership styles used by its formal leaders.

There is no rule that a style can be used. Most of the time involved, the leader of a combination of leadership styles depending on the situation. In emergency situations such as times of war and calamity, decision-making is a matter of life or death. Thus, the leader of a nation can not afford the luxury of consulting with all departments in order to reach important decisions. The case is of course different in times of peace and order. The different sectors and other branches of government freely interact and participate in governance. Another example is in leading organizations. Where employees are highly motivated and competent, a combination of high and moderate participative management style delegative is best. But if the employees have the skills and commitment from below, a combination of high coaching, high support and guide the behavior of the leaders of the organization is not required. Now that you know these are things to keep in mind that it has always ideas that we think we know. There are concepts that we take for granted, but they are actually the most useful ideas on leadership.

Many people believe that if someone succeeds, because they will have good leadership. Some people think that if a company is successful, then good leaders have. Leadership is not something to pass on the very easy to others. Sometimes a company is successful is because a former director was very clever as a leader and current President of the things are kept on working as before.

A great leadership is a rare skill. It is believed much rarer than most. For most people do not come naturally. It’s amazing how many organizations are successful, although only marginally competent people to lead them. Often this is due to the organizational structure that helps compensate for the leadership gap. Sometimesit is because a very talented staff, for the shortcomings of the Heads of State and Government compensated.

When the great leadership skills can make a person is successful, the opposite is not true. Success does not come, you make a good leader. If you are learning for leaders to make sure as you that you are looking for people with good leadership skills not only someone who has managed it. We can not assume that someone is a good leader just because she has been successful. Often people try to imitate successful people and try to follow their leadership. Although this is a good thing that people often end up imitating the bad habits of individuals.

Do not assume that leadership style is effective for someone just because they are successful. Often one can succeed in spite skills theirleadership no leadership qualities. An organizational structure can often hide the wrong direction by someone. Many leading role simply once the wave of momentum of past accomplishments, their leadership qualities have had a very limited role in creating reality.

Some people who are as great leaders who have seen a large crowd of people around them to isolate the skills poorleadership organization. These people act as a buffer to prevent the deficit of leadership, had a negative impact on the organization.

Through careful evaluation of the leaders around you, you can also learn to recognize who managed the successful result of their leadership qualities and in spite of their leadership qualities. If you are emulating the leaders around you, make sure that they are leading to real leadership and not those who command and control capability, because they are in a position to succeed seem to have.
